Originally the main station for Casino on the line that was planned to link Brisbane to Sydney through Tweed Heads, Murwillumbah, Lismore, Tenterfield and then through the New England, a plan that was never realised once the Sydney-Brisbane standard gauge line was built in 1930. With significant items ranging from early photographs of the indigenous Australian people of Oyraaba, to personal items consisting of a beaver hat and leather case that once belonged to Henry Barnes, overseer of Casino and later Oyraaba Station.

he Aboriginal Hospital Liaison service provides education and support to patients of Casino Base Hospital and their families/carers, communities and other organisations. The confidential service promotes respect and equality. Patients and their carers are involved in planning care options to meet their needs.

The Service also acts as a patient advocate to advise management of possible adverse patient outcomes that can arise during clinical care.

The Bulgarr Ngaru Medical Aboriginal Corporation was established in 1991 to provide health services to the Aboriginal communities of the Clarence Valley, New South Wales. Bulgarr Ngaru now operates as a large regional health care service with our footprint including the traditional clans of the Yaegl and Gumbaynggirr Nations and a large proportion of the Bundjalung footprint (excluding Lismore, Ballina, & Byron).

We now provide services out of three clinical hubs in the Clarence Valley (Grafton), Richmond Valley (Casino) and Tweed Heads South with our corporate centre for clinical and administrative services based in South Grafton.

The Clarence Valley Clinic provides services to the Aboriginal communities of Grafton, Baryulgil, Malabugilmah, Yamba and Maclean.

Our Richmond Valley Clinic provides services to the Aboriginal communities of Casino, Box Ridge, Muli Muli, Tabulam and Kyogle.
